Home charging is 90% of the time
The vast majority of EV owners charge at home. A Level 2 charger (240 V) charges several times faster than a regular outlet, can be scheduled for off-peak hours, and for every electric vehicle, Level 2 is clearly the better choice: faster, and more practical day to day.

In practice, we recommend 40 A — the best value for money. Going to 48 A often requires changing the wiring, which makes the installation much more expensive.
The panel: the real question
On a 100 A service, you don’t connect a charger directly: you need a load controller or an upgrade. At 150 A or more, it’s case by case — we run a load calculation.
The location
Indoors or out, distance to the panel: it affects the type of installation and the cost. We plan the cleanest, safest route.
Can your electrical service take it?
This is THE thing to validate first. A 40 A charger is a large, continuous load:
- 100 A service: no direct installation. We add a load controller that spreads out demand — which works very well for a charger — or we plan an upgrade.
- 150 A service and up: case by case. We measure the actual load before confirming.
Rebates: what to know
Government programs support residential charger installations. In general:
- Single-family home: about $600.
- Condo or multi-unit: up to 50%.
- Multi-unit and commercial owners: programs also exist to integrate chargers into buildings.

A charger bought online?
We can install a charger you bought yourself — no technical issue. But be aware of one thing: the rebate may not apply. Before buying, check that the model is on the list of chargers eligible for the program.
Can an outdoor charger survive a Quebec winter?
Yes — on two conditions: it must be installed according to the Electrical Code and the manufacturer’s directives, and it must be a model built for our winters. The chargers we install are.
